Sony ICF-CL75IP Dream Machine iPhone/iPod Dock

Usually we stick to telling you about the latest iPod speakers and docks, usually stearing away from the not so rock’n'roll world of iPod alarm clocks. But Sony have brought out such a hot looking alarm clock that we felt was definitley worth a mention.

Admittedly there’s a lot of people who don’t have an alarm clock these days, instead prefering to set the alarm on their phone, but this latest offering from Sony may just change their mind.

The first thing that strikes you about the ICF-CL75IP Dream Machine is its good looks. Sony are renowned for styling their TVs and other devices, but have often seemed to have forgotten this talent with their other iPod and iPhone related devices, but not this time. Check it out: £130.68 at Amazon

The first thing that strikes you about this Sony ICF-CL75IP Dream Machine is the 7 inch color (800 x 480) LCD display that dominates this alarm clock/speaker dock. The screen allows you to use the device as a digital photoframe or you can use it to watch your favourite movie or TV show (MP4, M-JPEG, and AVI files) before you drift off to the land of nod.

The 1GB of internal memory means that you can show your favourite photos beside your bed all the time, without having to have your iPod or iPhone docked in the retractable docking tray.

With this great screen, Sony might have though about including WIFI capability in to this iPod alarm clock an speaker, so that in your first moments of consciousness in the mornnig you could check the local weather forecast or look up the news headlines for that day. They haven’t unfotuntaley, but this is surely going to be on the cards for the next iteration of this device.

To wake you from your slumber the ICF-CL75IP offers an FM/AM radio, as well as a function that allows you to record a 10 second voice recording to so that you can create your own custom wake up moment. If you’d prefer something a little gentler, Sony’s Dream Machine has a wealth of built-in calming sounds of nature, including Sea Waves, Birds and Rain to help you wake up or got to sleep feeling calm and relaxed.

All in all, a nice piece of bedside kit.

The good news is that the Sony ICFCL751I has now arrived.

Launched first in Canada and then the US, Sony’s latest bedside iPod alarm clock and speaker dock made it to the UK in December.

It’s compatible with the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod touch, iPod Nano 3rd generation, iPod classic, iPod Nano 2nd generation, iPod 5th generation, iPod Nano 1st generation and 5th generation, iPod 4th generation, iPod mini and is one very clever iPod alarm clock.
