New Creative ZiiSound D5 iPod speaker dock
At the Zii summit in China this week, there is on display a ZiiSound D5 iPod speaker dock, it got a lot of people very excited. There is no dock, instead a connector that will plug in to your iPhone or iPod and transfer the music to the speaker unit via bluetooth. No news yet on pricing or launch dates for the UK.
The iPod has become a fundamental part of our personal entertainment experience offering us excellent sound quality and a great user experience all bundled up in a fantastic design. So fundamental has the iPod become, that we no longer just listen to or watch it while we’re jogging, or while travelling on the train or on the bus – instead the iPod for many of us is now the centre of our entertainment world.
Our iPods not only hold all our favourite music, but we store our favourite photos on them, we watch movies and TV shows and even play games on our iPods. With all this in mind, headphones aren't always the best way to enjoy your iPod experience and why should we keep all this good stuff to ourselves - we want to share it!
iPod speakers have evolved in response to users wanting to not just enjoy their iPods on a personal level, but to make the iPod the center of the home entertainment system and a great way to share your music with friends.
When we say that speakers have evolved we really mean evolved - iPod speakers now come increasingly in every shape and size. iPod owners can choose from cost-effective and convenient travel speakers such as the tiny iStation mini travel speaker that literally fits in the palm of your hand (around £9.99) all the way through to the beautifully designed B&W Zeppelin that will lighten your purse or wallet by around £399 and is just as much a work of art as it is a quality iPod speaker.
When you're searching for the ideal way to share you music with friends or listen at home, just be aware that not every iPod or generation of iPod will fit on every iPod speaker and dock. Most will come with interchangeable clips to get round this issue, but if all else fails you can always hook up to your new speakers with a connector cable. Just check the store's description carefully to make sure that if the speaker or dock that you choose is compatible with your needs and your expectations.
